We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated Senior Project Manager to join our Project Delivery team and lead the execution of key energy projects for our expanding client base across Ireland and the UK. This is a dynamic and wide-ranging role that offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact in the transition to a low-carbon future.

 

In this role, you will take full ownership of projects from initial concept through to final delivery, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. You will oversee and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, working closely with internal engineers, external designers and suppliers, Customer Solutions Managers, and clients to deliver tailored, cost-effective, and energy-efficient solutions.

 

These solutions span a wide range of technologies, including lighting systems, mechanical and electrical installations, heat pumps, heating and cooling systems, heat recovery, battery storage, solar PV, building management systems, and water and pumping systems. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that each project delivers optimal technical and commercial outcomes aligned with client needs and sustainability goals.

 

Success in this role requires a strong safety-first mindset, deep technical expertise, and proven project management experience in the energy or building services sector.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Take full ownership of the delivery phase upon contract award, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Plan and manage all aspects of project delivery from contract signature through to final handover, in close cooperation with clients and contractors.
  • Oversee and coordinate contractors delivering small to large-scale projects across multiple client sites.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with agreed timelines, budgets, and performance milestones.
  • Champion and uphold ESB’s strong safety culture across all project activities.
  • Collaborate closely with internal SES teams and wider ESB business units to identify and deliver added value for customer partnerships.
  • Provide input during the development phase of energy efficiency projects to ensure smooth transition into delivery.

 

Skills and Experience
Essential 

  • Qualification in Project Management or Engineering related discipline
  • At least 8-10 years' experience in project implementation
  • An ability to manage and deliver energy services to public and private sector customers
  • Understanding & knowledge of energy management, energy efficiency and distributed generation technologies and the implementation of same
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
  • Project Management & Delivery including contractor management
  • Full clean Irish driver's licence

Desirable 

  • Experience or Knowledge of facility and/or Asset management, Operation and Maintenance
  • PMP / Prince 2 Qualification
  • Working knowledge of some of the industry standard forms of contract e.g The Fédération Internationale Des Ingénieurs-Conseils (FIDIC), New Engineering Contract (NEC), etc.
  • ISO 50001 implementation and SI 426 Auditing experience
  • Knowledge of project support opportunities e.g.
