In this role, you'll develop downhole nuclear logging methods, operating protocols, signal transforms, compensation/correction and interpretation algorithms in collaboration with geoscientists. You'll lead the setup, analysis, and optimization of data acquisition and processing workflows during component/system laboratory and field tests.

As a Senior Nuclear Physicist-Modeling, some additional responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and protecting high-value intellectual property via patent submission.
  • Contributing to the design and optimization of hardware in collaboration with electrical and mechanical engineers. This includes novel nuclear tools, tool components, and tool assemblies, leveraging advanced radiation transport methods.
  • Supervising the codification of above tasks into tool firmware and response interpretation software.
  • Defining and delivering the scope of work necessary to complete above tasks on time, budget, and scope.
  • Leading and participating in design reviews, change management processes, and product development workflows/milestones as necessary.
  • Writing reports and delivering presentations to stakeholders to summarize research results and communicate lessons learned.
  • Exemplifying compliance with all applicable health, safety, environment, and export control policies and regulations.


Fuel your passion
 

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have an advanced degree in Nuclear, Particle, or Accelerator Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Chemistry, or closely related discipline. PhD preferred.
  • Have 7+ years of experience developing downhole nuclear logging methods, protocols, signal transforms, compensation/correction and interpreting algorithms, and formation evaluation products and services.
  • Have extensive experience with advanced nuclear modeling packages (e.g. MCNP and other RSICC licensed software/codes).
  • Have experience with HPC environments, and advanced Monte Carlo variance reduction techniques and deterministic transport codes is advantageous.
  • Have experience with standard scientific programming tools and operating systems (e.g. MATLAB, Python, Linux).
  • Have experience with data analysis/interpretation methods and workflows for nuclear tool-based formation evaluation services.
  • Have advanced knowledge of a broad suite of downhole logging tools, techniques, and applications with particular focus on nuclear modalities.
  • Have excellent communication, technical writing, and project documentation skills.
