Position Overview
This position will be a key resource in developing and completing manufacturing process improvement projects and best practices. These improvement projects will increase profitability, throughput, and quality; improving the Group’s competitive position. The Operational Excellence Manager should be self-motivated and able to work effectively in a decentralized and matrixed team environment. This position will work closely with plant management teams and corporate functions to implement, track and manage change initiatives.
Responsibilities

Develop, evaluate and improve production methods utilizing lean tools, knowledge of product design, materials and parts, tooling and production equipment capabilities, process methods, and quality control standards

Help identify opportunities for significant improvement by working with operations and/or sales teams to understand opportunities to apply lean process improvement initiatives

Provide oversight and guidance, planning, training and mentoring to plant-level teams implementing continuous flow production processes

Drive manufacturing process change through active hands-on communication and coordination with plant-level teams

Oversee and lead plant improvement workshops to identify, diagnose and address bottlenecks and inefficiencies in production processes

Provide follow-up and tracking to ensure identified improvement opportunities are completed as planned and teams are accountable to the process

Translate operational needs into project requirements and specifications

Force rank improvement opportunities – develop and implement project analysis techniques and processes to select opportunities that optimize the following desired attributes: Profit impact, Time to complete, Complexity, Risk, Cost to Implement
Education/Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related degree or the equivalent in relevant experience

In-depth knowledge and practical experience applying lean manufacturing methodologies to support continuous production operations. Track record of achieving positive results using lean manufacturing techniques

Competency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and experience with ERP/MRP systems and project management tools

Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt preferred

Demonstrable experience leading manufactured cost improvements

Industry experience in concrete manufacturing or building products sectors

Effective team builder and leader with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team within a highly matrixed environment
Knowledge/Skill Requirements

Strong ability to develop and maintain a wide range of multi-site relationships at all levels of the organization utilizing influence, communication, facilitation, and presentation to effectively define and manage positive change

Thorough understanding of lean management tools and practices with ability to assess, explain and deploy with common-sense approach to plant teams to drive measurable improvements

Problem solver able to consistently think strategically, act with urgency, and uphold our high ethical standards

Travel up to 75% of the time
Salary
-
This position ranges between $70,000-$95,000 based on experience
