QA Laboratory Supervisor

The laboratory supervisor oversees the day to day operation of the QC lab.  He/she supervises and works alongside a small number of lab technicians. He/she is responsible for ordering lab related supplies, as well as working with outside labs.  The supervisor must be familiar with all test procedures that Whitehall Specialties performs. The supervisor must be able to troubleshoot any lab-related concerns.  The supervisor is responsible for the training, scheduling and disciplining of the lab technicians.  The supervisor is responsible for maintaining and recording calibration and analytical reports. The lab supervisor works very closely with production and the QC Manager to ensure that product quality specifications are maintained.  This position reports to the QA Manager.

 

From time to time you may be required to work other shifts or be temporarily moved to other department in the plant.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ideally 3-5 years of experience in a dairy or analytical laboratory.
• Possess a four-year college degree, preferably in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field.
• Knowledge of operation and troubleshooting of lab equipment and testing procedures involved in process cheese operations, including but not limited to: CEM moisture analyzers, vacuum ovens, salt analyzers, Mojonnier and other fat testing methods, protein testing, pH meters, centrifuges, and melt testing.
• Ability to train and supervise approximately 8 lab techs providing 24/7 coverage.
• Knowledge of microbiology plating and counting procedures for both finished product testing and environmental monitoring.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work with a high degree of accuracy.
• Able to communicate and work with personnel across all levels of the organization.
• Knowledgeable and able to conduct equipment and building sanitation inspections, including climbing stairs or ladders as needed.
• Support QA Management with various projects, as needed.
