Position Purpose

Under minimal oversight, support the administration of the company’s underwriting structure. Underwrite and monitor accounts and account lines. Develop and execute a marketing plan. Perform and monitor the risk analysis. Analyze, evaluate, accept, decline, rate, quote, and bind new submissions. Has significant ownership and accountability over the review of complex sources of profit and selecting appropriate risks. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Analyze, evaluate, accept, decline, rate, quote, and bind new or renewal submissions with high premium or risk exposure.

• Build strong relationships between agents, reinsurers, and contacts.

• Review complex submissions, account losses, pricing models, and profitable premiums.

• Review complex sources of profit by selecting appropriate risks.

• Assist with special projects or other duties as needed.

Education & Experience

• Typically requires a bachelor's degree in insurance, finance, risk management, business or a related field, advanced degree preferred

• Minimum of 8+ years of related experience for consideration

• [OR] equivalent level of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies

• Anticipates and provides solutions to the most complex clients and accounts

• Proven track record (either at RLI or externally) to manage a large, profitable book of business without oversight or supervision of work

• Expected to manage day to day tasks regarding growth and profitability of the product

• Consistent display of complete/organized files at audits and documentation is at a level that judgement/pricing is easily understood by anyone’s review

• Works with Managing Director and AVP to address deficiencies and improvements of the product ranging from marketing, distribution, appetite, processes, documentation, coverage, and pricing methodologies

• Responsible for results of individual book of business

Compensation Overview

The base salary range for the position is listed below. Please note that the base salary is only one component of our robust total rewards package at RLI. The salary offered will take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications/credentials, talent availability & specialization, as well as business needs. The below range may be modified in the future.

Base Pay Range

$152,150.00 - $217,376.00
