POSITION SUMMARY

 

Location: Main Campus preferred (Lawrenceville, GA; Aurora, IL; Port Reading, NJ; Lancaster, TX; other locations may be considered)

 

The Sr Director, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) is a Senior Leadership Team (SLT) role that leads the implementation and maintenance of prevention-focused health, safety and environmental (HSE) and sustainability programs. The position will establish, execute, and deliver company specific strategy that supports DSV’s overall HSE objectives. This position provides expert HSE leadership and guidance and provides direction for the Regional HSE Managers to monitor systems implementation consistency.

 

The Sr Director, HSE will oversee regional compliance in areas of injury prevention, task assessment, safety communications, hazardous materials storage and transportation compliance, and regulatory compliance. The Director, HSE is also responsible for the oversight and management of divisional Worker’s Compensation investigations, cases, and associated litigation and other matters pertaining to Worker’s Compensation laws and regulations for DSV Solutions employees. This is completed by developing, implementing, and managing company safety programs, policies, and procedures to create a safe, secure, healthy, and accident-free work environment. This position will need to ensure that the Groups’ Health, Safety & Environmental Policies & Procedures are specific within the DSV Solutions environment and that sites are complying with all statutory requirements (including but not limited to OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001:2004) where applicable.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive and promote zero-incident HSE culture throughout the company.
  • Together with regional and operational leadership, build relationships and lead with expert consultation, collaboration, and guidance on safety, health, industrial hygiene, environmental, and fire prevention.
  • Supports HSE operations to achieve or exceed annual targets for leading indicators, injury rate reductions and other elements of safety improvement.
  • Support creation of health, safety and environmental (HSE) goals for the site management and appropriate activity-based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive HSE culture, compliance, and results.
  • Supports program deployment in region and looks towards innovation and industry leading approaches to drive continual improvement and to meet operational goals and to reduce injuries, accidents, and incidents.
  • Develop and implement training programs to transfer HSE knowledge and core competencies for Solutions North America to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
  • Timely communication of all findings, concerns and deficiencies to the responsible management team and ensures that issues, concerns, and deficiencies are corrected – per pre-defined and agreed processes. Develops and implements strategic solutions that will support management's efforts to improve and maintain compliance as directed.
  • Head a company-wide system to identify and evaluate hazards (risks) and implement effective controls (corrective solutions).
  • Lead incident investigation process, including cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans.
  • Manages company resource relationship with OSHA, EPA, FDA, DOT, or other State and Federal regulatory agencies and address any issues that may arise on a site or regional level.
  • Assist facilities management team in ensuring required regulatory permits are acquired, required reports are submitted to regulatory agencies and any site permit conditions (e.g., recordkeeping, process safety management (PSM), stormwater, special waste, etc.) are met.
