About the role:  
Boston Scientific is looking for a highly motivated engineer to join our fast-growing Metals+ team. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership and problem-solving skills to drive medical device innovation. In this role, you'll use your technical skills and passion for innovation and continuous improvement to drive the commercialization of new products and improvements. You'll work hands-on to solve complex problems in a fast-paced, global environment. This role involves collaborating across teams to develop effective NiTi (Nickel-Titanium) post processes and advanced technologies for new products, ensuring their smooth transition into production. This includes, but is not limited to, working with Electropolishing systems, Heatset, Microblasting, Expansion tooling, and ID honing. This position involves cross-functional collaboration to design and commercialize advanced technology at our Maple Grove facility, supporting process development across Boston Scientific’s global plant network.

Your responsibilities include: 

  • Works cross-functionally to develop capable process and complex technologies on new products and ensures efficient and effective transfer of product into production 
  • As a key member of the New Product Development team, applies technical knowledge to innovate, design & develop processes, and advance emerging technology. 
  • Collaborates & partners with R&D to develop product concepts, influence design specifications and provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to the engineering print package. 
  • Partners with Operations to improve the reliability and robustness of commercial processes.
  • Works cross functionally to lead, own, develop, & deliver capable and robust processes and equipment to operations. 
  • Develops experimental strategy and presents technical data and recommendations at technical reviews. 
  • Develops, writes, & reviews process validation strategy and related deliverables to meet quality system requirements. (e.g., Experiment tech reports, GR&R, TMV, IQ, FMEA’s, etc.) 
  • Contributes ideas to or generates Intellectual Property submissions. 

  
Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience with chemical-based processes

 
Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with electro-chemical-based processes
  • Experience with Nitinol processing
  • Demonstrated understanding and usage of statistics to drive improvements. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of problem solving and root cause investigations.
  • Experience with Process Verification and Validation.
  • Medical device or other regulated industry experience. 
  • Expertise in Operations or New Product Development. 
  • Demonstrated cross functional teamwork in technical environment.
