Senior Applications Systems Analyst - Amc-Sched & Specialty, Hybrid

Overview

Working as part of the Ambulatory Informatics Support team, this role:

• Establishes professional relationships with leaders of departments by rounding & attending meetings. Has a consistent presence in Ambulatory departments to identify end user challenges in Epic, while communicating best practices.  Serves as the primary liaison between operations & IS teams.
• Helps to improve the efficiency of clinicians in their use of the Epic EHR and associated systems.  Assists with development of new workflows & provide at-elbow support during Epic upgrades and implementations.
• Supports system Informatics projects and initiatives.  Assists with the maintenance of clinical tools in Epic, such as personalization of ordering preference lists and other SmartTools that streamline and support clinical efficiencies.  Research and assist with submitted issue & request tickets
• Assists with New Staff On-Boarding and department specific training by Manager request. Works with staff who may benefit from further training and workflow optimization in Epic.  Provides specialty-specific eDH training not covered in New Hire Epic Training.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with business analysts, project leads, and IT teams to ensure service availability, prompt issue resolution, and solutions are viable and consistent with established organizational practices. Maintains project tracking information.

Demonstrates a strong understanding of the technical aspects of applications, as well as the operational details, work flows and how applications are used in the department.

Provides analysis and testing functions in support of new or upgraded vendor, in-house computing systems and special projects.

Participates in the development and follow-up evaluation of system design and process improvement projects. Makes recommendations for operational improvements.

Lead significant project(s) associated with the application with minimal oversight by their lead/supervisor/manager and demonstrates strong presentation and communication skills to operational project teams. Needs to be organized with tasks needed to solve technical problems and presents solutions to operations and IT teams.

Assists departments in applications system management function. Develops a system to ensure the effective maintenance of security for all applications supported.

Performs detailed analysis with end users to troubleshoot and resolve problems, develop new functionality within the application, improve workflows, and understand how applications are used within the department and how they interface or integrate to other DH systems.

Provides training and assistance to team members, and new employees in department.

On call rotation and some project work requiring off hours, weekend, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with five (5) years of relevant work experience or the equivalent preferred.
• Must be self-directed, flexible, and have strong organizational, analytical, and self-motivational skills.
• Strong verbal, written, and listening skills are required to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and internal customers.
• Demonstrates work qualities of attention to detail and dependability.
• Ability to make decisions independently, but works within a team environment to provide support to department.
• Handles fluctuating workloads while working within deadlines.
• Project management skills are desired.
• For applicable positions: Has vendor application certification/proficiency or earns it within 12 months of hire (i.e. Epic application certification). Maintains certification/proficiency in accordance with vendor requirements.
