This is exactly what we, the Machine Learning Engineering group in Expedia, do.  Our mission is to partner with our Machine Learning Science counterparts to use AI/ML to collaboratively transform Expedia’s data assets into intelligent and real-time insights to support a variety of applications which are used by 1000+ market managers, analysts, our supply partners, and our travelers. Our work spans across a variety of datasets and ML models and across a diverse technology stack ranging from Spark, Airflow, Databricks, Kubernetes, AWS and much more!

What you’ll do:

• Guide and coach the team to successfully deliver on lofty goals with speed and quality. 
• Promote development of maintainable and thoroughly tested code 
• Ensure your team is following coding standards and engineering excellence practices. 
• Communicate clearly to product managers, partners, and engineers to remove ambiguity from larger projects; Provide high level engineering estimates. 
• Collaborate with architects and engineers in defining scalable solutions that incorporate data insights as well as your technical perspective in furthering the product and business. 
• Cross organizational boundaries to collaborate with other technology teams to solve complex, integrated problems. 
• You will be passionate about coding and remain hands-on. 
• Remain informed on technology trends. Examine inefficiencies in the existing stack operation and encourage engineers to improve them.
• You will own set of products that would help facilitating the e2e ML journey for MLS and MLE across EG.
• You will hire and onboard new team members and develop judgment for evaluation of talent. 

Who You Are:

• You have a degree in software engineering, computer science or a similar field. 
• 5+ years software development experience
• Proven experience in leadership and team building and passion for both technology and leadership. 
• Experience in delivering end to end software/ML services.
• Hands on experience with Java, Scala, rest services, big data, streaming, Kubernetes services and databases. 
• You have experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies. 
• You have good understanding of machine learning lifecycle.

The total cash range for this position in Aust is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience.  Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
