Engineering at Nayya

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead multiple high-performing engineering teams and define the technical vision and roadmap for a new area of our business. The Senior Engineering Manager will partner cross-functionally to build alignment with product management and other internal stakeholders, deliver effective solutions, shape technical direction, and build a strong engineering culture. This position will support a new team within the company; experience building products and teams from the ground up is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with product and commercial to build a shared vision for success for an emerging product area.
• Establish and enable a clear vision for your teams, ensuring alignment and focus, while managing pace of delivery.
• Prioritize ruthlessly; wear multiple hats while keeping the team focused on the most important deliverables.
• Interface with other technical teams to collectively strategize, as well as manage cross-functional work and priorities
• Hire for and build a team from the ground up, responsible for building a brand new product as part of the overall Nayya product suite.
• Ensure that architectural designs match the business needs for your areas.
• Establish and manage engineering KPIs to objectively assess and improve team performance.
• Provide technical expertise to promote business development efforts
• Experience building products and teams from the ground up
• Leading customer facing workstreams, interfacing with external partners, customers, and vendors.
• Balance between hands engineering work such as coding, technical design and system architecture when needed alongside strategic thinking and people management.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in software development and delivery, with in-depth knowledge of software architectures
• 3+ years of management experience, with proven experience managing multi-disciplinary full stack individuals.
• Passionate about process, innovation, quality, and efficiency, and leading a team of motivated engineers and leaders
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills - able to influence across multiple areas of the business.
• Proven track record of shipping products in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Team development skills: ability to set a roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegate intelligently, offer engineering advice, deliver frequent and transparent feedback, work with team members to grow in their careers, and ensure everyone delivers quality results
• Customer-centric mindset. Experience interfacing with external stakeholders, partners and vendors - proven experience in external stakeholder management.
• Experience with Object-oriented languages, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, or Python preferred
• Experience with Javascript and modern frameworks (React, Redux, etc.)
• Experience with AWS, relational databases, REST APIs, MVC Architecture, and OOP principles
• Experience with Machine Learning and Data Science desired
• Note that hands on experience is a requirement for this role. The balance between hands on work vs people leadership will change over time as you build out your team.

The salary range for New York based candidates for this role is $175,000-$225,000. We use a location factor to adjust this range for candidates that are located outside of geographic region of our New York office. Placement within the salary band is determined based on experience.
