Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Taxation, Office of Technology, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr. Programmer Analyst Expert to drive innovation and transformation within our tax return processing systems. This role is critical to ensuring that our systems continue to meet the evolving needs of both Virginia taxpayers and the Commonwealth government.

As a Sr. Programmer Analyst Expert, you will collaborate closely with both business and technical stakeholders to refine requirements, design robust system architectures, and deliver enhancements that improve functionality, performance, and user experience. Your leadership will directly influence the modernization of one of our most complex and mission-critical applications.

The position is located at our Main Street Centre location in Richmond Virginia and has a hybrid schedule consisting of 3 days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and 2 days teleworking (Monday and Friday).

The anticipated hiring salary is commensurate with experience up to $130,000

Minimum Qualifications

 

Expert working knowledge of .NET and C# 

Excellent understanding of software engineering, object-oriented programming, agile and / or Scrum methodology and best practices

Experience developing applications that interface with Oracle, SQL Server including writing ad hoc queries and/or stored procedures 

Ability to independently analyze program specifications, to code and test programs and resolve problems across multiple systems 

Knowledge of Azure DevOps and / or GitHub

Experience in Linux/ Unix shell scripting or Windows Power Shell 

 

 

Additional Considerations

 

Experience with the Modernized eFile (MeF) development framework for IRS and State

Ability to troubleshoot client server technologies (for example IIS, JBOSS, Apache Tomcat)

Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPlatform tools such as PowerBI, PowerApps, and PowerAutomate 

Work Experience within Federal or State government agencies either as an employee or contractor
