Adjunct Faculty - Hospitality Administration

About the role

Ivy Tech Bloomington campus is searching for individuals to teach 8 week Hospitality courses in the fall semester starting mid October. Currently seeking individual to teach HOSP 108 Human Resources Management; this class teaches the hiring and interview skills as well as the basis of HR from a hiring manager's point of view. The course meets Mon and Tues 12:30 - 3:30pm 10/21- 12/15/24. Applicants must possess an earned associates or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution, and hold the NRAEF Instructor/Proctor status, and have two or more years of directly related work experience. Adjuncts are paid $46.75 per contact hour (hours in class) and could teach up to 12hrs per week.

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.

  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.

  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.

  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.

  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).

  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.

  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Aside from minimum qualifications instructors must be able to demonstrate skills/course objectives, clearly explain concepts and methods, answer questions, evaluate student products, and assign grades following rubric guidelines. 

Additional Note to applicants: Applicants may be asked to give a teaching demonstration to the search committee during the interview process. Details on length and topic will be given during the scheduling process.
