About the role

Osceola Food, LLC has an opening for an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic or Industrial Electrician. The hiring range for this role is $27.25-$35.75 per hour, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, and level of experience. Successful candidates will work in our modern food processing production facility located in Osceola, Iowa, and enjoy competitive wages along with a comprehensive benefits package. Vacancies are typically on 2nd or 3rd shift with opportunities for overtime. Some vacancies may include a 3/2/2 rotating schedule working 12 hour shifts as well as 8 hour shifts. Specific schedules will be discussed during the interview process. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform proactive and reactive maintenance on all production equipment, buildings, and grounds
  • Use knowledge and skill to produce equipment and modify existing equipment to meet the needs of the production teams
  • Perform the necessary work with a minimum of direct supervision to identify and solve problems
  • Use communication skills to keep Team Leaders, Maintenance Engineers and fellow team members informed of their progress
  • Practice safe working procedures in accordance with safety policies of Osceola Food, LLC
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must not now, or at any time in the future, require employer sponsorship for a work visa.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer. 
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Qualified candidates will have either previous relevant experience as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, or related field, OR two years of training at an accredited technical school
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment on a variety of complex projects
  • Well-developed interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidates will complete a maintenance assessment during the interview process
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Experience:

  • Welding and working with food processing equipment
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Prior food manufacturing or food industry experience

Applicants must be willing and capable of:

  • Standing in one spot on a work stand or at a work station except during breaks and lunches
  • Climbing up and down 50 steps to both enter/exit the facility and to/from production floor
  • The ability to frequently lift 50 pounds and frequently bend and twist
  • Working on short notice, working 8 to 12 hours per day, work several days in a row if our business dictates and work mandatory overtime throughout the week and weekend
  • Working a day, evening, third, weekend, or 12-hour rotating A or B 3-2-2 shift (Work 3 days, take 2 off, work 2 days, take 3 off)
  • Working in average temperatures of 35-45 degrees or less
  • Working with different types of raw, chilled, processed, or ready-to-eat meats
  • Following our strict sanitation requirements, including but not limited to, wearing hear nets, beard nets, and washing hands frequently, no jewelry, no nail polish, etc.
  • Following our strict safety requirement, including wearing a hart hat, ear/eye protection, vinyl gloves, uniforms, and hand/foot protection
  • Practice safe working procedures in accordance with safety policies of Osceola Food, LLC
