Title: National Youth Ensembles Production Assistant

Carnegie Hall seeks three Production Assistants to provide production and administrative support to the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA), NYO2, and NYO Jazz during the programs’ residencies at Purchase College, SUNY and various other locations. The NYO family of programs provides exceptional training and performance opportunities for approximately 225 instrumental musicians from across the country between ages 14 and 19. Production Assistants serve as a link between artists, participants, and staff, and will assist in the operation of a wide range of activities, while gaining insight into the design and function of these programs. Production assistants will work closely with and report directly to the Assistant Director of Production, WMI. Responsibilities include setting up and breaking down rehearsals and workshops; moving instruments, resources, and equipment throughout campus and the greater NY area; supporting and monitoring rehearsals, workshops, and wardrobe fittings; providing access and wayfinding to spaces; assisting faculty members as needed; and other duties as assigned.


In addition to a stipend of $800/week, shared (double) accommodation and meals will be provided.


Qualifications: Must be 18 or older with a high school diploma. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to problem-solve and trouble shoot in time-sensitive situations. Must be extremely well organized and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment. An understanding of the needs of professional musicians, including orchestral members, guest artists, and conductors is desirable. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office required.

Hours vary based on the needs of the programs but can include early morning and late nights.
Please note performing the duties of a Production Assistant requires the ability to move, transport, and/or position stage equipment and musical instruments; and to move other program equipment and supplies up to 25 lbs between and among locations across a university campus.
