About the role

Description

Greenville University is seeking a Director of Retention and Student Success. Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Development. The Director of Retention and Student Success is responsible for overseeing retention support systems including developing an early alert system, coaching, mentoring, tutoring, and supplemental instruction to ensure student success and retention for students. 


Develops, directs, and assesses student success programs, initiatives, and services designed to increase the persistence, academic goal completion, and graduation rates of students. Collaborates with various schools and departments, student life and coordinates multiple tasks.


This is a full-time, 12-month position.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead collaborative efforts and engage a broad array of campus stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive university-wide student retention and academic success plan. 
  • Develop and implement an integrated approach for the delivery of academic support services in support of the University’s commitment to student retention and academic success.
  • Partner and work closely with Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management and Student Development, and other campus stakeholders to collaborate and participate in student academic success initiatives.
  • Ensures the resources and services are being used by students along with sound programming.
  • Develop and manage data-driven academic success services and programs, including supplemental instruction, peer tutoring, academic workshops, as well as academic and success coaching; develops new programs as needed.
  • Develop and lead new programming and retention initiatives for first-year, second-year and transfer students. 
  • Establish action plans for re-admitted students who were previously suspended for poor academic performance. 
  • Utilize technology and student information system to track, assess, monitor, and report student retention, persistence, and graduation rates.
  • Compile and analyze real-time and historical student enrollment data to develop, improve, and implement programs to enhance student retention and academic success.
  • Deploy an early warning system to identify and monitor at-risk students, and implement interventions that directly support student retention and success.
  • Develop, maintain and communicate a complete list of academic student support services for Chairs, faculty and staff to reference to assist with retention related matters. 
  • Maintain knowledge of current higher education trends in student retention and academic student support programs.
  • Provide Godly leadership and management in relevant areas, this includes leading the student success team and students in prayer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

This position supervises Student Success staff.
