Job Summary
This is a new Engineer 3 position that will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes critical to support Comcast’s national locates program. Ensure accurate and timely ingestion of locates-related data from multiple sources. Works closely with operations & analytics teams to structure data effectively for actionable reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate must have a passion for data and a willingness to adapt to various system/operational challenges to work with disparate data sources both internally & externally.Job Description
As part of the National Locates/Damage Prevention team, this Data Engineer is based in our Denver (Englewood), CO office. It is not approved for remote or virtual employment. We are unable to provide sponsorship for this role now or in the future.
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and maintain robust ETL processes for ingestion, transformation and loading of locates data.
- Design scalable solutions for large data volumes, optimizing for performance & cost.
- Engage external teams in the creation of data pipelines from various sources, including 811 one call centers, locates vendors and ticket management systems.
- Collaborate closely with analysts and operational stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, quality and consistency.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize data pipelines to maintain efficient and reliable data flow.
- Document data structures and processes clearly to facilitate cross-team understanding and usage.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance data quality and processing efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with data governance standards, cybersecurity and best practices.
- Provide clear communication of complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, including developing and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with DevOps practices, version control (Git), and collaborative tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Familiarity with Bash, Linux preferred and GIS data, ticket management systems, and locates/811 operations a plus.
