Job Description:  

Professional level engineering position in traffic engineering. Duties include: review of highway segments to determine traffic control device needs throughout the Region in order to enhance safety and traffic operation needs; review of traffic-related complaints (e.g. speed limits, geometrics, signing, striping) from the public and others to address safety and operation needs; assist the region traffic engineer with review of site developments by collecting/reviewing data necessary to analyze traffic movement permit applications; complete analysis for traffic movement permits under the direction of the region traffic engineer; assist/advise with driveway/entrance permits to provide guidance in areas of traffic operations & safety; serve as traffic team member on projects; participate in analysis of high collision locations to improve safety; assist the region traffic engineer with Official Business Directional Signs. 

To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:

Licensure as a Professional Engineer which includes at least two (2) years of work experience which demonstrates independent design, engineering analysis based on established standards, and progressively responsible work overseeing complex engineering projects with increased accountability.

Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).

Licensure as a professional engineer as issued by the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
