Job Description
NBCUniversal has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to become a Storage Engineer for NBCU Operations and Technology (O&T). O&T supports Enterprise Technology, Broadcast and Production systems across the NBCU portfolio globally.
This role will be responsible for maintaining and supporting 24x7x365 high availability storage environments for NBCUniversal. You will provide support for all operational-based changes for all supported applications. You will also be q point of escalation for any major impacting incidents where storage support is needed and would manage until resolution.
Essential Functions:
- Support all storage technologies and process lifecycles in the NBCU enterprise, specifically file, block, tape, and object storage systems - both on-prem and cloud
- Provide level 2 support to MSP teams who are tasked with maintaining some of these systems including 24x7 on-call support
- Participate in investigations of application performance issues within Media Operations and Enterprise Systems and their integration points to identify systematic issues and root causes
- Follow up with storage vendors to resolve system issues and drive future development
- Upgrade and patch systems as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution
- Develop scripts for the automation of routine tasks
- Develop partnerships across engineering teams, including compute, network, database, automation, cyber, and application support for cross-facility support and engagement
- Provide updates to management and clients on support and project tasks
- Provide training and documentation of systems and support procedures to be utilized by the larger engineering and operations teams at the facility
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- B.S. degree in an Information Technology/Engineering related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience required.
- 4+ years of experience supporting and troubleshooting mid-to-large, high availability Storage and Data Protection environments specifically for NetApp, EMC, Cloudian, S3, and LTO Tape Library storage systems.
- 4+ years of experience in planning, documenting, validating, and testing technical solutions in a global enterprise setting.
- 4+ years managing vendor relationships and working with professional engagements.
- Experience in storage performance, data replication, SAN based backup, load balancing, storage virtualization methods and SAN zoning/provisioning.
- Experience in Storage technologies such as Fiber Channel, iSCSI, CiFS, NFS, Flash, RAID, LTO, etc.
- Experience in Window/Linux Server build, configuration, and administration
- Working knowledge of network infrastructure, services, and toolsets
- Ability to manage environments in multiple locations across the United States and internationally.
