About the role

The Role:

Moderna is currently seeking an organized and detail-oriented Biobank Supervisor. The Biobank Supervisor will play a crucial role in the operational management of Moderna’s biorepositories. The ideal candidate will possess leadership capabilities, customer service orientation, and problem-solving skills. This position will be a full-time, lab-based role in Norwood, MA, involving activities related to the lifecycle of biospecimens, including collection, storage, shipping, receipt, usage, and destruction.

 

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee daily biobanking operations and ensure adherence to established protocols and standard operating procedures.

  • Coordinate with staff to ensure efficient management of biospecimen lifecycle activities.

  • Monitor and report on operational metrics and KPIs as outlined by departmental guidelines.

  • Maintain and update departmental policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure ongoing quality and compliance.

  • Facilitate the implementation of process improvements and equipment changes as identified by senior management.

  • Manage study-specific timelines and deliverables, oversee supply inventory, and perform routine operational/administrative tasks.

  • Support data reporting for biospecimen metrics and inventory queries.

  • Identify and communicate operational challenges to senior management and participate in developing solutions.

  • Adhere to GLP/GCLP standards, regulatory requirements, and safety practices.

  • Perform additional duties as required within the scope of biobanking operations.

 

Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3-4 years’ relevant work experience in a laboratory or sample storage environment.

  • 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or team lead role.

  • Knowledge of biospecimen handling and familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., CAP, CLIA, ISO).

  • Experience with LIMS and freezer-storage software.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and consistency in routine tasks.
