Job Description
At Takeda, we are a forward-looking, world-class R&D organization that unlocks innovation and delivers transformative therapies to patients. By focusing R&D efforts on three therapeutic areas and other targeted investments, we push the boundaries of what is possible to bring life-changing therapies to patients worldwide.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Computational and Systems Biology to join our multi-disciplinary Early Clinical Development team. This leadership role focuses on supporting clinical development programs across multiple therapeutic areas, with a strategic emphasis on the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The role will contribute to biomarker discovery, molecular differentiation, patient stratification, and data-driven decision-making across early- to late-stage programs, including life cycle management studies and new asset combinations.
We are looking for:
- A visionary leader to join the Computational & Systems Biology group within the Gastrointestinal & Inflammation Therapeutic Area Unit and play a pivotal role in our mission to deliver innovative therapies for patients.
- An expert in translational bioinformatics who will apply advanced computational biology, multi-omics integration, and AI/ML strategies to support clinical development, biomarker strategy, and mechanistic insights into treatment response and resistance.
- A strategic collaborator who will partner with clinical development, translational medicine, and discovery teams to define and execute biomarker strategies and analytical plans. This includes leading multiple clinical-stage projects, acting as a senior scientific consultant, and managing matrixed project teams.
- A proactive innovator to lead internal and external collaborations, develop cutting-edge analytical strategies, and support data-driven decision-making across the clinical development continuum.
- As Director, you will lead translational bioinformatics efforts aligned with the IBD strategy, ensuring scientific excellence and strategic execution across the portfolio.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead the strategic utilization of high-dimensional datasets, including multi-omics data from translational and clinical studies, to support the IBD strategy. This includes life cycle management study support, biomarker discovery, molecular differentiation, patient stratification, and drug combination strategies.
- Oversee data integration and network/pathway analysis to understand mechanisms of action, ensuring robust and insightful interpretations that guide clinical and translational strategies across the IBD portfolio.
- Direct the application of AI/ML tools and generative AI models for biomarker discovery, integrating findings with existing knowledge to advance translational medicine goals and enhance the impact of the IBD programs.
- Generate and test hypotheses to identify novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers, driving innovation and advancing our understanding of disease mechanisms in IBD and related immune-mediated conditions.
- Support and lead drug combination trials, leveraging bioinformatics insights to design and analyze studies that explore synergistic effects and optimize therapeutic outcomes within the IBD space.
- Lead and cultivate academic collaborations to expand scientific insight, validate translational hypotheses, and accelerate innovation in biomarker science and clinical development.
- Prepare and present comprehensive technical and scientific reports for both internal and external audiences, effectively communicating complex data and insights to
