The OAR Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the Director of the Office of Accessibility Resources in the development and implementation of policies, programs, and services for students with disabilities. The Assistant Director will assist the Director in overseeing the daily operations of the office including conducting initial appointments with students, reviewing documentation, and determining accommodations based on student eligibility.This is a 12 month, full-time (37.5 hour per week), benefits-eligible position based on Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
Job Duties:
Student Access:
Facilitate initial student meetings, review documentation, create case notes, perform intentional follow up with students and/or faculty members, and refer students to on campus and/or external community resources. Consult with the Director to complete the eligibility determination and plan for reasonable and appropriate accommodation for students with complex disabilities. Work closely with the Director to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for students with disabilities.
Leadership:
Assists the Director with the development of policies and procedures aligned with the department's mission and vision. Provides leadership, supervises staff and manages office in the Director's absence. Attends committee meetings and serves on search committees and advisory boards as requested.
Representation and Participation:
Represents the OAR at campus events such as Orientations, Graduation services and information fairs. Leads the office in special initiatives, including planning and implementation of awareness programming designed to promote an atmosphere of inclusion and belonging on campus.
Federal/State Laws, Mandates and Trends:
Stays abreast of Federal and State laws regarding equal access as well as trends in inclusion in higher education. Participates in timely professional development and contributes to the development of innovative and creative practices to meet mandates for equal access.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in social sciences, education, or a closely related field
● 2 years of demonstrated full-time experience in supporting students with disabilities in the post-secondary educational environment
● Working knowledge of various disabilities and disability laws (ADA, Section 504, Fair Housing Act, etc.) as they pertain to higher education and students with disabilities
● Skillset and relative expertise in the interpretation of disability-related documentation for the purpose of verifying disability and identifying appropriate accommodation plans in the post-secondary educational environment
● Expertise with web-based data management systems, such as Accommodate ● Ability to connect effectively with faculty, staff, students, and campus partners from diverse backgrounds to share the value and importance of access and disability-related processes within the college/university setting
● Ability to contribute to the general teamwork efforts required of the staff to maintain the OAR, working both independently and as part of the team on OAR initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
● A graduate degree in higher education, college student development, disability studies, educational/school psychology, special education, rehabilitation, assistive technology, social work, or a closely related field
Physical Demands
● Able to move about the office to access file cabinets and office equipment such as phones, copiers and printers
● Able to work in an environment with a moderate level of interruptions

21.17-26.46The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
