Our Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Biomechanics Associate – Computational Modeling for our Biomechanics Practice in Phoenix, AZ. In this role, you will work as part of a team supporting our advancing proactive, real-world, data-driven insights initiative informing product design and innovation, utilization of digital health technologies and supporting data analytics capabilities and biomechanical modeling to monitor and predict a broad range of performance outcomes.
You will be responsible for
- Designing and executing human experiments to quantify and interpret explicit health and performance characteristics within lab, virtual, and real-world based environments
- Developing advanced musculoskeletal models to quantify and evaluate human dynamics and performance
- Deriving, analyzing, and interpreting a variety of complex technology-driven data streams related to human health, wellness, and performance, and human-product interactions in a variety of naturalistic use settings
- Using innovative data analysis approaches to understand or inform health, wellness, and performance outcomes for a broad range of biomechanical and physiological data streams
- Writing proposals to initiate and/or support new opportunities in the human performance technology sector (e.g. clinical, military, consumer products, sports)
- Researching and reviewing relevant scientific journals, publications, and testing and then analyzing and synthesizing technical biomechanics issues involving kinematics, dynamics, mechanisms of injury, and human tolerance
- Clearly communicating findings via written reports and presentations
- Demonstrating the ability to synthesize technical information into an easily understood format suitable for presenting to technical and non-technical audiences
- Working in a small team environment within the larger company-wide Biomechanics Practice, and as such, you will be expected to actively create and pursue opportunities to develop a positive workflow
- While balancing the demands of project work, you will be expected to participate in original research, publish papers in technical journals, and present findings at conferences
You will have the following skills and qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biomechanics, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Kinesiology, Movement Science, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in study design and associated statistical analyses
- Experience in using technologies to quantify human motion/performance in various settings
- Significant experience in computational programming (i.e., Python, MATLAB), with an emphasis on signal processing and mechanical modeling
- Prior experience and expertise in working with large-scale datasets is desirable
- Effective leadership skills and the ability to interact with a wide variety of professionals, including engineers, scientists, managers, attorneys, and administrative staff
