The incumbent in this position is primarily responsible as an entry-level flexible assistant within the Facilities department. The role typically reports to a department manager and manages no direct reports. This position works under the department manager specific to the daily assignments needed.
The Facilities Department provides 24X7 coverage. The incumbent may be required to provide coverage during emergencies.

The incumbent in this position is primarily responsible as an entry-level flexible assistant within the Facilities department. The role typically reports to a department manager and manages no direct reports. This position works under the department manager specific to the daily assignments needed.
The Facilities Department provides 24X7 coverage. The incumbent may be required to provide coverage during emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance, respond to employee work requests, work on construction project teams.
- Package handling, supply ordering, office equipment maintenance and light general maintenance task.
- Daily receiving , logging, delivering of packages and mail
- Assisting with selection and packing of orders
- Operating warehouse equipment such as fork lift, industrial shredder and bailer
- Serve as the back-up to front desk receptionist when needed, including answering telephone, visitor registration, and security procedures.
- Responsible for support of staff in IEEE offices, which may include maintenance requests, mail distribution, conference room set ups, implementation of safety & security procedures, emergency janitorial services, participation on project teams.
- Handle van services when needed; including passenger transport, package & mail delivery, maintenance and repair.
Qualifications
Education- H.S. diploma Req
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience Pref
- Less than 2 years building management or a related industry such as construction trades, warehousing, office/clerical work, or safety administration. Req
- Complete training and certification every two years for American Red Cross First-Aid/ CPR/AED program; as a Facilities employee will be required to serve on the emergency response team. Req
- Strong interpersonal skills are required with ability to interface by telephone or in person, with individuals on all levels.
- This individual performs work that is visible to staff.
- He/she must be a team player.
- Should be versatile in using Google Email, Google Calendar, and smart phone technology.
- Candidate needs to be reliable and initiative. He/she must be able to work well under pressure. He/she will need to give timely response to requests for information, service and assistance. Candidate will need to demonstrate a positive and productive attitude.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and challenges that occur daily in this fast-paced work environment. Manage and coordinate a wide variety of issues and complaints from an extended customer base.
- Ability to adjust workload to facilitate timely completion of projects or activities. Must be familiar with general facilities operational issues pertaining to but not limited to security programs, copier maintenance, shipping/warehouse responsibilities, and overall facility maintenance issues.
- Must have valid NJ driver license and must pass insurance company background check and maintain the driving requirements set forth by insurance carrier. Being an insurable driver under the IEEE insurance guidelines is a job requirement and failure to be eligible for coverage under the IEEE corporate driving insurance program may result in termination.
