POSITION SUMMARY:
The Packaging Team Leader demonstrates customer focus through support for Operations, Materials, and Maintenance. This individual will use Visual Controls, Standardized Work, Training, and Escalation to identify, and resolve, a line out of standard conditions. The Packaging Team Leader will provide direct support for Production Team Members' roles and responsibilities. This individual will lead the execution of the daily production requirements, drive ownership, resolve Production line-related downtime with a sense of urgency, and prevent future downtime occurrences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead Safety performance of the line, modeling safety behaviors, PPE requirements, and mentoring/training on safety concepts.
- Communicate Safety near misses, and safety compliance issues (PPE), to Supervisor on an ongoing basis.
- Train Team Members in the ASA access process to perform incidental downtime tasks and resets.
- Lead Start of Shift Team Meetings / next shift hand-offs.
- Manage line crew through shift including breaks, job rotation, standardized work, and staffing required /escalate gaps to supervision as required.
- Develop/revise standard work (SOPs) for team members.
- Train team members and develop and maintain Flex training charts and logs for the team.
- Develop and support the implementation of improvement projects and Team Member and team ideas (may require OT as needed)
- Lead line problem-solving activities/line downtime issues as required.
- Perform layered audits, monitor completion of non-conformances (Gemba walks), and escalate when necessary.
- Participate in TPM (Preventative Maintenance) through planned downtime and weekend activities (may require OT as needed)
- Maintain Team Boards, Hour by Hour activities, and review with the team.
- Support and train team members / other team leaders in lean manufacturing goals.
- Know product quality standards required for team / perform quality checks/line clearance.
- Raise concerns/escalate issues as required using the escalation process to Supervisor or other Diversey leadership.
- Perform 6S tasks and lead continuous improvement of workplace organization.
- Ensure material flow for upcoming orders (bottles, labelers, caps, etc.) and lean materials initiatives are followed.
- Follow the standard daily routine, and support the organization, to achieve team and business goals on a daily basis.
- Lead/assist in maintaining production/break constraints.
- Identify supplier-related issues and work with Quality as required.
- Monitor scrap performance and document, all scrap on a shift basis.
- Maintain regular communication with the team, cross-shifts, and supervisors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in a Chemical Plant environment.
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to problem solve.
- The nature of work will involve work outside of standard shifts and/or weekends, including overtime.
- HSD or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior Team Lead experience preferred.
