Wieland is hiring a Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician will serve to independently and collaboratively troubleshoot industrial electromechanical systems and machinery, operating within the maintenance department.  This role is located in Wheeling, IL and will be fully on-site. This position will serve to independently and collaboratively troubleshoot industrial electromechanical systems and machinery, operating within the maintenance department.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:

• Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Interface with machine operators to understand and determine the cause of machine issues.
  • Ensure operation of machinery and other production equipment by completing preventive maintenance.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Able to diagnose defective mechanical parts, and disassemble the components for repair using hoists, fork lifts, and other equipment.
  • Fabricate and/or repair machine parts using measuring devices, mills, lathes, and welders.
  • Observe all OSHA and NFPA regulations at all times, and wear proper PPE at all times.
  • Coordinate with all departments, supervisor, and department manager.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    No supervisory responsibilities are assigned. Exercises independent judgement regarding assigned responsibilities and consults manager in situations that would have a significant impact on machine availability.

Maintenance Technician Qualifications:

• To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform their essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.   • Experience maintaining or repairing industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Good problem solving and technical skills.
  • Fabrication and welding experience.
  • Able to read electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Functional knowledge of and experience troubleshooting electromechanical systems.
  • Good computer and data entry skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Own a stocked toolbox that can be stored onsite.

   

  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Highschool diploma required.
  • Post highschool education is a plus.
  • Three years of experience working in industrial facilities.

  • Periods of standing, walking, negotiating stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks and platforms.
  • Walking over uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
  • Exposure to production environments that are not temperature controlled.
