OPERATIONS MANAGER

Starting Rate: $20.40 per hour

Dauphin County is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Operations Manager in the Solid Waste Management Recycling Center.  An employee in this position is responsible for managing the electronic waste and other recyclables collected at the
county’s Recycling Center. The employee in this position assists in overseeing the Work Release inmates that assist in the daily operation
of the center.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:

• Lifts electronics, televisions and other bulky recyclable items out of customer vehicles.
• Operates forklift to empty scrap metal bin, stack Gaylord boxes on pallets and load into 53” tractor trailer for
  transportation. 
• Directs and instructs residents and small businesses on proper recycling practices. Performs general
  upkeep and light maintenance at the recycling center.
   

OTHER DUTIES OF JOB:

• All other duties assigned by Director.
   

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: 

• Director 

SUPERVISION GIVEN:

• Assists in the supervision of Work Release inmates daily.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Position is primarily outside or in the warehouse area of the recycling center.
• Must be able to endure hot and cold temperatures.
   

PHYSICAL/MENTAL CONDITIONS:

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
   

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/TRAINING:

• Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program. 
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• CDL preferred with additional compensation available. 

B. WORK EXPERIENCE:

• 1-2 year of supervisory experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Recycling and/or waste management experience preferred. 
• Must have previous forklift training. 
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. Customer service minded.
