Purpose

The Technical Trades Lead at the University of Texas plays an active role in supporting the university’s goal to maintain a safe and productive environment for students, faculty, and staff. This position oversees and manages personnel within the Security Installation and Repair Department, handling tasks related to maintenance, repair, construction, renovation, and field operations of the university’s security systems and equipment. Additionally, the role is responsible for upholding campus security standards on PMCS projects.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain work order and trouble ticket process workflow processes to ensure quality services are being provided and documentation is being completed.
  • Supervise and direct all operations in the Security Installation and Repair Shop. Implement changes as needed to maintain quality product that meets or exceeds the need of the user and the University.
  • Critical service support: Campus Security Systems (BACS), on call support and cell phone communication.
  • Composes, reviews, and processes the shop timesheets and material requisition forms.
  • Work closely with Security Operations and ensure proper standards and functionality are being obtained.
  • Provide technical training and counselling to employees as needed to ensure standards and quality are being met. Complete and perform employee evaluations.
  • Maintain the integrity and functionality of the field equipment associated with the campus security systems.
  • Ensure that supervisor is kept up to date and informed. Driving university-owned vehicles to job sites will be required for this position. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy UTS157.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned.
