About the role

Job Description:

Our Food Safety & Quality Assurance Technician II are responsible for:

  • Examine material or product for defects such as damage, foreign material, color, pH, concentration levels, finish weight and appearance.  

  • Verifies specified physical and visual properties of product or material.  

  • Identify and isolate equipment, material and finished products not meeting specifications. 

  • Perform diagnostic tests for environmental monitoring using aseptic sampling techniques. 

  • Selects product at specified stages in production process, and tests for variety of qualities such as dimensions, color, temperature, pH and weight. 

  • Monitor, record, and initiate corrections if needed for freezer and cooler temperatures 

  • Monitor produce wash process for proper concentration and cleanliness 

  • Monitor metal detection equipment. 

  • Perform inspections as needed including pre-operational inspections for approval of product operations

  • Operate any diagnostic equipment needed to perform job

  • Maintain constant communication with production personnel about collected relevant data, and help to achieve standards

  • Conduct weekly GMP audit with plant team. 

  • Have participated or lead internal audits.

  • GFSI exposure

  • 3rd party audit exposure

  • Have exposure to SOP creation and document control

  • Perform related duties as needed independently

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

  • Other duties may be assigned

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear

  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms , to stoop, kneel, or crouch

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving equipment in a cold environment.  

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

  • This position requires the FSQA technician to work evenings and weekends as necessary to accomplish working around production schedules, could include holidays.

  • Overtime or irregular hours may be necessary to meet demands of the business and schedules. 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  

  • Some advance education preferred or High School diploma/general education degree (GED) and at least 4+ years of related experience in the food safety and/or quality industry

  • Technician must have intermediate skills with Microsoft Applications such
