This exciting position will report to our Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and support the lead Corporate Affairs team. The role may be located in Washington DC; Brooklyn, NY; Syracuse, NY; Albany, NY; or Boston, MA.

Job Purpose

The Executive Advisor role encompasses acting as an Advisory Partner, with a key focus on Engagement, Performance and Alignment. It involves executive support, executive communications, planning and facilitation of executive and team meetings, managing the CA Performance Contract, FBR, CSAT, and various other adhoc projects. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to positively impact the operations of a 200-person global team.

 

The position is characterized by a high degree of responsibility, accountability, technical aptitude, aligned with strong influencing skills and diplomacy.
 

Key Accountabilities

Engagement:
•    Event/meeting planning – Plan CA lead team meetings, monthly team meetings, quarterly off sites and extended leadership events. Understand the topics that should be discussed, propose and coordinate agendas, facilitate slide deck creation
•    Lead the development of the CA annual “All-hands” Conferences
•    Develop and execute Chief Corporate Affairs Officer’s personal comms strategy (email/ LinkedIn/ Yammer/ Internal Conferences) and personal engagement plan
•    Develop strategies to support the CA grid:voice process
•    Forward plan and diary management in partnership with PA to Chief CA Officer to anticipate and avert issues.
•    Manage timely completion of action items from ExCo and CA lead team meetings


Performance:
•    Responsible for the coordination and development of the annual Performance Contract and ensure that the relevant metrics are regularly tracked and reviewed by the CA lead team throughout the year
•    Lead on the coordination and development of the CA FBR submissions and all other internal performance related reporting and presentations
•    Responsible for development and management of the bi-annual CA C-SAT process
•    Ensure safety and other non-financial target-based reporting is fully integrated into CA’s performance process and that Performance metrics form a key part of the monthly Town Hall process


Alignment:
•    Act as exec support for the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer including action tracking and follow up
•    Develop a strong working relationship with the CA lead team and senior leadership across National Grid.
•    Attend meetings or forums with or on behalf of the Corporate Affairs leadership team when appropriate.
 

Qualifications

•    We are looking for a strong self-starter, with excellent initiative, judgement, and strong influencing skills
•    Would suit an ambitious candidate who sees the role as a springboard to a position of greater responsibility
•    Ideally the successful candidate will have experience across a variety of different previous roles and will be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of National Grid and its key stakeholders
•    Strong interpersonal skills including influence, communications and project management are pre-requisites as are excellent written skills
•    The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities is a must; the candidate needs to be organized, detail oriented, resilient, and able to make independent decisions with a high degree of confidence
•    Experience in presenting and leading discussions is expected
•    An ability to clearly articulate objectives, problems and asks and the presence to bring their own personality to the role are all important considerations
•    The ability, when appropriate, to challenge or push Leadership during critical thinking opportunities
•    Acts as a trusted confidant. Experience managing confidential items
•    Ability to anticipate needs based on patterns
•    Strong organization knowledge of either the electric and/or gas business
•    Demonstrates the ability to interpret information and analyse relationships among seve
