Clinical Staff Pharmacist

The clinical staff pharmacist is licensed with the KY Board of Pharmacy. The pharmacist verifies medication orders entered by providers, screens for contraindications or allergies, adjusts doses based on renal function, weight, age, kinetics or other clinical parameters, responds to emergency codes, counsels patients, provides drug information to clinical team members, makes clinical intervention recommendations to providers and care team within scope of practice and documents clinical intervention and progress notes in the EMR. THe clinical staff pharmacist serves as supervisor for technicians in dispensing duties, inventory management, controlled substance distribution, automated dispensing machine restocks and returns, sterile and non-sterile compounding preparation, hazardous or high-alert medication safety and billing. The clinical staff pharmacist may serve as preceptor for pharmacy technicians, pharmacy interns and residents. BCPS or residency training is preferred.
