Position Description & Educational Benefits:  

Club Council is composed of passionate and dedicated student leaders who are committed to serving clubs and building community at UW Bothell. These student leaders support club members, empower students, and maximize student voice in decisionmaking. The Club Council Chair provides leadership to the Club Council team, supporting its members in their day-to-day operations, presiding over the business meeting process, and serves as a primary representative of recognized student clubs at UW Bothell. 

 

If you are interested in a Member role (Secretary, Treasurer, Coordinator, etc.), you must apply for that role separately in the Club Council Member application. Applicants are more than welcome to apply for both Chair and Member roles.

 

Student Engagement & Activities (SEA) - Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Contribute respectfully to the diverse and inclusive work environment at UWB and the Student Engagement & Activities (SEA) department  
  • Contribute to the SEA mission 
  • Perform outreach to students about SEA programs, events, and services to promote student involvement, and provide current information about campus resources 
  • Maintain shared workspace with other student leaders, including supplies management, rotating cleaning and organizational duties, prompt reporting of issues, etc. 
  • Maintain active, timely communication with supervisor and team  
  • Connect with the UW Bothell student body to find out what different students want and/or need  
  • Maintain documents and folders in a shared digital filing system, on a student engagement platform, social media, and other technology  
  • Perform clerical duties including documenting and updating processes, data entry, maintaining work calendars, booking rooms, and scheduling meetings 
  • Support and staff SEA events and operations as needed. This includes but is not limited to: New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, SEA org support, and large-scale campus events 
  • Represent the SEA department at events and as requested by supervisor 
  • Support the recruitment of future student leaders during hiring processes 

 

Club Council Chair - Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Preside over the Club Council public business meeting in an impartial manner and set meeting agendas 
  • Co-lead Club Council team meetings with advisor(s) and supervisor 
  • Serve as the primary representative and liaison for Club Council and UW Bothell’s recognized student clubs 
  • Assist Club Council members with their assigned duties and responsibilities as necessary to support the organization 
  • Assist advisor(s) and supervisor in the creation and delegation of administrative tasks that support the overall student clubs’ program 
  • Oversee and provide direction for Club Council member’s interactions with student clubs 
  • Review and update Club Council’s operational processes as needed, with the assistance of the members and the advisor(s)/supervisor  
  • Hold weekly office hours to be accessible to clubs 
  • Advise club officers one-on-one on issues relating to conflict, club constitutions, funding, policy, etc. 
  • Adhere to and educate about university policies, as outlined in the Services and Activities Fee (SAF) Bylaws, Club Handbook, and Club Council Funding Model, and ensures that clubs and Club Council follow said policies and processes accordingly 
  • Review requests from clubs to be heard and prepare questions for the weekly Club Council public business meetings 
  • Evaluate and make decisions on recognized student clubs’ requests and relevant policy without bias at the weekly Club Council public business meetings (e.g., funding allocations, club recognition, policy review, etc.) 
  • Co-lead any proposal processes for funding (Services and Activities Fee (SAF), Student Technology Fee (STF), Alumni Association Award, Grants, etc.) on behalf of Club Council, along with the Treasurer, advisor(s), and supervisor 
  • Assist in the creation and execution of Club Council member and general SEA student leader training 
  • Assist with summer quarter “Get Involved” orientation sessions, presenting to incoming students 
  • Attend club events regularly 
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
