About the Position

The Chief Financial and Transportation Officer leads through the district Leadership Collective Commitments by embedding them into daily practice, decision-making, and system design. The role prioritizes care for people by ensuring students, staff, and families receive the support, coaching, and development needed to promote wellness, safety, and effectiveness across fiscal and transportation systems. The position leads through coaching and remains coachable by seeking feedback, supporting professional growth, and reinforcing shared accountability for results.

The role applies disciplined improvement science to adapt, adopt, or abandon practices based on evidence, impact, and alignment to district priorities. It requires curiosity and learning from staff closest to the work, while actively partnering with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders in shared decision making. Accountability is central to the position, with a clear expectation to hold self and others responsible with respect, assume best intentions, and maintain high expectations with a standard of excellence.

As a cabinet member, the Chief Financial and Transportation Officer contributes to districtwide strategy and decision making, builds trust and shared accountability across departments, school sites, and labor partners, and uses improvement science to guide system changes that strengthen alignment, sustainability, and connectedness.

Performance and Process Targets

Ensure fiscal and transportation systems directly support district performance targets. Advance process targets related to continuous improvement, coaching, and aligned systems. Use metrics and dashboards to monitor progress, identify gaps, and drive corrective action.

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Administrative Services, the Chief Financial and Transportation Officer is a senior district leader responsible for executive oversight of transportation services and chief financial leadership functions. This position integrates operational leadership equivalent to a Transportation Director with Chief Financial Officer responsibilities, including budget development, fiscal oversight, and financial accountability, and provides strategic leadership across transportation, budget, fiscal services, and purchasing. The role works collaboratively with Administrative Services in payroll, leaves, benefits, position control, and personnel services, and strengthens alignment, accountability, and connectedness across systems through disciplined improvement science, efficiency identification, and long‑term planning.

Experience and Education

A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:


Education:
 Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in finance, accounting, business administration, public administration, or a related field. A specialization in accounting or business administration is preferred. An advanced degree from an approved institution is preferred.
