Position Title: Local Health Department Response & Recovery Deputy ChiefSalary: $115,283 plus benefitsPosition End Date: 5/31/2025Location: North Carolina (Hybrid) 
Overview: The CDC Foundation is seeking a Local Health Department Response & Recovery Deputy Chief assigned to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. The Local Health Department Response & Recovery Deputy Chief (RRDC) position works with the Local Health Department Response & Recovery Chief. The position is responsible for the day-to-day activities of three major areas of service (Local Disaster Support Unit, Mass Fatality Management, Evacuation Shelter Staffing) to the county local health departments (LHD’s) negatively impacted by Hurricane Helene. This position will serve in several functional program areas, including assisting with planning and coordinating emergency response efforts and/or human services programs and collaborating with variety of public and private partners. An ideal candidate for this role has juggled multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, maintained a high level of professionalism, and crafted timely communications to and from internal and external partners. The candidate will support priority projects and actions. This position provides an excellent opportunity to improve organizational, project management, and audience-centered writing skills, in addition to building a strong knowledge base about work with state and local health jurisdictions. 
Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in public service administration, psychology, sociology, or social work or a human service programmatic field, from an appropriately accredited institution; · Three years of program experience related to emergency response, human services, or other similar programmatic areas. · Strong analytical and presentation skills to synthesize, comprehend, and recapitulate complex information. · Strong writing and communications skills. · Demonstrated project management, organization and planning skills applied in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment. · Proven decision making and problem-solving capabilities with strong follow up skills and attention to detail. · Strong self-direction and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with many teams and organizations on a diverse set of topics. · Demonstrated responsibility and leadership in a public health or related program. · Experience working with diverse internal and external partners, demonstrating customer service and servant leadership. · Demonstrated ability to work well independently and supporting a team. · Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a complex environment while balancing multiple competing priorities. · Strong judgment and decision making, analytical skills; business intuition and acumen. · Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with strong written and verbal communication skills. · This position may require occasional overnight travel.  Responsibilities: · Direct and coordinate the day-to-day statewide emergency response efforts and/or human services programming within an agency, major division or service. · Directs several or all of the sections related to a large program depending upon the scope and complexity of the work. · Collaborates with a variety of managerial, professional and support staff in the delivery of services in the assigned units and program areas. · Provides leadership in setting agency goals and objectives for the programs assigned and may require working with other agency executives in resolving internal resource allocation and program integration issues. · Acts as a subject matter expert of applicable federal and state regulations, as well as agency policies, rules and regulations that affect program structures and operations. · Develops and maintains involvement and cooperation with both the public
