Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer. This position is located in Huntsville, AL and supports the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get To Do:

The selected candidate will join our team of qualified individuals. This role will be a member of a team of system engineers who will continue to mature the interfaces products for the weapon system from Preliminary Design Review phase to a Critical Design Review and beyond. The role includes working in a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and/or supporting the development of at least the following key interface artifacts:

  • Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • Interface Requirements & Verification Plans
  • Interface Logical and Physical Architecture
  • Interface Nx CAD Models
  • Interface Mentor Capital Wiring Diagrams

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, 6 years of experience with a Master's degree; 4 years with a PhD.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must currently be read in and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval.
  • Must have DEVSTAR experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience with technical review boards.
  • 3+ years experience working with interfaces
  • 3+ years experience leading/supporting trade studies or tiger teams
  • 3+ years experience with Atlassian tools (Jira and Confluence) or similar
  • 3+ years experience working with Cameo or similar tools
  • 3+ years experience working with DOORS or similar tools
  • 3+ years experience working with Nx or similar tools
  • 3+ years experience working with USG stakeholders

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
