About the role

Job Summary

Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of Environmental Services which may include general cleaning, floor maintenance and laundry functions.

Essential Functions

  • Supervising Environmental Services employees. Interviewing, selecting, and training new employees. Monitoring current employees and providing ongoing training, coaching and performance management.

  • Participating in the development and implementation of department wide projects and programs. Responding to customer concerns/compliments.

  • Controlling operating expenses. Adjusting staffing levels based on fluctuating workloads.

  • Developing and maintaining employee performance standards to achieve desired quality results through daily rounding in areas of responsibility and performing required audits. Evaluating employee performance.

  • Utilizing the Corewell standards and effective communication skills to incorporate specific age, cultural or developmental needs.

  • Maintaining and/or improving employee engagement through rounding, recognition, team building and meeting.

  • Participation in department and hospital committees.

  • Developing programs/practices, which ensure correct/safe care and usage of chemical products and equipment.

  • Evaluation of new and existing products and equipment.

  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • 3 years of relevant experience.

  • Computer knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs.

  • Ability to communicate, direct and motivate culturally diverse and/or physically/mentally challenged employees.

  • Excellent organization, written and oral communication and human relation skills.

Preferred

  • Associate degree

  • Knowledge of hospital procedures and practices

  • 2 years of relevant experience Leadership
