Senior Buyer

About the position

We are hiring a Senior Buyer who operates as a strategic business leader, not a transactional buyer.

This role is not focused on creating POs or processing RFQs. We are looking for a proven strategic purchasing professional who defines what the business needs, builds compelling sourcing strategies, gains leadership alignment, and executes those strategies to deliver hard-dollar savings.

This position owns purchasing outcomes. You will act as a guardian of company spend, a disciplined negotiator, and a trusted partner to plant and business leadership.

Responsibilities

What You Will DoOwn Cost and Purchasing Strategy

• Lead and execute strategic sourcing initiatives across all relevant spend categories.
• Deliver measurable, hard-dollar PPV improvements year over year.
• Challenge demand, specifications, and supplier pricing to ensure the business is buying what it truly needs.
• Treat company funds as your own — disciplined, thoughtful, and accountable.

Negotiate and Lead Suppliers

• Lead complex commercial negotiations using volume, market insight, and competitive leverage.
• Build leverage intentionally and apply it effectively.
• Establish and manage a high-performing supplier base.
• Hold suppliers accountable for cost, delivery, quality, and continuous improvement.

Execute — Not Just Recommend

• Implement sourcing strategies and cost-reduction ideas already identified by the business.
• Convert plans into realized savings, not presentations.
• Work independently to remove obstacles and get results.
• Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain.

Requirements

Who We Are Looking ForRequired Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of strategic purchasing or sourcing experience in manufacturing (industrial and/or automotive).
• Documented success delivering hard-dollar cost savings (PPV).
• Proven ability to lead supplier negotiations and drive outcomes.
• Strong financial and business acumen.
• Comfortable working independently with full ownership of results.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
