Group Lead - Day Shipping/Windows

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Group Lead - Day Shipping/Windows to join our growing team.
American Building Supply (ABS), a subsidiary of Jeld Wen, and one of the Nation’s largest wholesale suppliers of Doors, Door Hardware, Windows, and Millwork, currently has a position available for Group Lead – Day Shipping/Windows to assist our Distribution Division in providing value-added goods and services to our customers.

Position Summary:
The Shipping Lead plays a critical role in overseeing daily operations on the production floor. This position is responsible for coordinating team activities, maintaining production flow, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement through Lean management principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Coordination
- Leading morning stretches and sets a positive tone for the day.
- Assign team members to their starting positions and adjust labor allocation throughout the day.
- Supervise and direct operations personnel on the warehouse floor.
- Evaluate, coach, and discipline staff as needed.
- Train new and existing staff on procedures and expectations.
Production Oversight
- Track and maintain visual management tools, including hour-by-hour boards.
- Monitor progress toward daily production goals using JEM tools.
- Assist with production tasks when necessary.
- Work with facility leadership to implement process improvements aligned with Lean management ideals.
Logistics & Customer Service
- Assist in dispatch, scheduling and coordinating job site deliveries and production order flow.
- Provide customer service via phone, email, and will-call.
- Communicate customer needs with drivers, sales, and operations teams.
- Pull and load materials for shipments and maintain window delivery schedules.
Quality & Safety
- Monitor shipping & production supplies across departments.
- Ensure accuracy of shipping materials and paperwork.
- Maintain a safe and organized working environment.
Other Duties
- Perform other tasks assigned to support production and operational goals.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and solve problems effectively.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
- Advanced computer skills and ability to use visual management tools.
