BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Tax Systems Group (TSG) as Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (Application Software). The Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (Application Software) is responsible for the design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing applications software and management of the IT systems environment in support of the organization’s IT architecture and business needs. Duties include, but are not limited to: analyzing and refining system requirements in response to business requirement/risks; evaluating new applications software technologies; writing, debugging, and maintaining code; determining and designing application architecture; integrating hardware and software components within the systems environment; and overseeing other employees in a technical and functional. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Examples of duties

Six (6) years of progressive work experience performing related duties and responsibilities, such as designing, testing, implementing, and maintaining a tax or financial system; leading the technical planning for IT projects; hands-on work with database management systems such as PostgreSQL and SQL Server; and using performance measurement tools to assess system effectiveness and recommend improvements.  Additionally, one (1) year of experience providing guidance, training or overseeing the work of lower-level staff. 

Qualifications

Experience that provides the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for this position.
