This position is eligible to participate in the ASE Stipend Pay Program, employees can earn up to $14,400 a year with qualifying certifications.
Work Schedule: M – F 7:00am – 3:30pm
The Central Region Equipment Manager provides operational oversight through subordinate supervisors on all equipment/vehicle maintenance/repair services within the Central part of Arizona. Extensive travel within the assigned region is required.

Work with shop supervisors to manage, plan, direct, and control the operations of all equipment maintenance/repair facilities within the Region to provide complete maintenance and service for automotive, truck, heavy construction and specialty equipment as well as coordinate snow activities. Evaluate job performances of supervisors.
Coach and lead staff, primarily during site visits to meet key performance indicators. Work with the Vehicle Maintenance Operations Manager, other Regional Equipment Managers and shop supervisors to develop and review key shop performance indicators to include but not limited to safety, staffing, budgets, productivity etc.
Works collaboratively with ADOT District Administrators and staff to review, negotiate and determine appropriate numbers, types of upfitting and modification requirements of support equipment. Meet with customers to identify concerns and ensure customer satisfaction. Monitor monthly customer satisfaction survey results for all Regional shops and ensure that all customer concerns and contacts are addressed in a timely manner.
Be an integral part of the Agency's continuous improvement efforts, working to standardize and document processes to facilitate future improvements and allow new personnel to contribute more quickly.
Negotiate claims with State and ADOT Risk Management on accident repairs and evaluations and work with ADOT Fleet Management on up-fit modification requirements and processes for newly purchased and fabricated equipment.
Requires extensive travel, operating a state vehicle in the course and scope of state business.
Ensure compliance, monitor, enforce and implement appropriate changes to meet environmental Federal, State and local operational requirements, policies, and procedures. Ensure staff in assigned region are current with all training and ensure employees and shops are compliant with all safety and environmental requirements.

Knowledge:
* Fleet administration and operations management.
* Basic operation of all heavy duty off-road, heavy truck fleet/automotive equipment used in operations of ADOT, in areas such as snow removal, vehicle maintenance, equipment repair, equipment modifications and preventive maintenance.
* Vehicle user policy/procedures, and employee and shop safety, OSHA, Federal/State environmental laws and regulations, specialized tools equipment used in day to day operation of vehicle maintenance facilities that perform all levels of equipment refurbishment, modifications, overhaul, rebuild, repair and preventive maintenance.
* Mechanical technical terminology, LEAN concepts, principles and tools used to create and deliver value from the customer's perspectives.
