Sr Actuarial Consultant Variable Annuities - (Charlotte, NC (Hybrid) or Remote)

How you’ll contribute:

As a Senior Actuarial Consultant, you’ll be responsible for supporting variable annuity asset liability management strategy and corporate development. This role will report to the Director & Actuary with focus on statutory and other stochastic scenario generators used in the risk management of VA and RILA products. The individual will play a leading role in BHF company-wide adoption of Stat GOES for statutory reporting. This individual will support the Strategical Analysis team in building analytic tools, identifying and measuring the key risk factors, and prototype analysis and reporting package. The individual will require strong technical skill in analysis and reporting using MS Office, database and big data processing using Python and other programming language.

 

In this role, you’ll get to:

• Support the hedging and risk management of variable annuities with living benefit riders (VA), fixed annuities (FA), and structured indexed annuities (SIA).
• Support the implementation of the Stat ESG developed by GOES for companywide stat and capital reporting.
• Prior experience with Conning ESG strongly preferred.
• Work closely w upstream and downstream constituents in defining the business specs, managing project progress and timeline and sign off the process flow.
• Be responsible for communicating the impact of GOES on various product line.
• Be agile and versatile in solving risk management issues under real time circumstances, using quantitative analysis tool and concept.
• Familiar with all reporting metrics that governor a public insurance company and keen in understanding and responding to the impact of regulation and reporting changes on capital and risk management.
• Advanced programming skills in at least one scientific language, such as Python, SQL, C++, etc.
• Be able to build strong working relationship with constituents in and outside of the team.

 

We’re looking for people who have:

• Degree in mathematics or statistics, or actuarial science.
• Associate of Society of Actuaries, with Fellowship preferred.
• Strong computing and programming skills with experience in Python (strongly preferred), Matlab, VBA, SQL, C++, etc.
• Experience with PathWise a plus.
• Experience with big data analysis a plus.
• Strong communication skills.
• Positive attitude with an eagerness to learn.
• Can adjust work resources and deadlines in response to changing business priorities.
