Shift Supervisor

Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

To facilitate and monitor all departmental processes, production, and personnel while ensuring Darnel safety & quality standards are met in all aspects of job performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides structure, direction, and feedback to ensure a high level of group performance. Defines, delegates, and directs work in a flexible manner. Sets realistic work demands and a fair distribution of assignments. Ensures that new hires work their plan and plan their work consistently on a day-to-day basis.

2. Creates trust by communicating openly with others, shares feedback in a constructive fashion, and addresses problematic situations head-on in a spirit of positive confrontation. Adheres consistently and shows support of all company policies and protocols. Focuses on measurable outcomes, sets incremental milestone targets, and celebrates victories and successes along the way. Places integrity, ethics, and trust above all else.

3. Train and assist with training of team members to ensure operations run as safely, efficiently, and effectively as possible.

4. Manage several tasks simultaneously and prioritize work tasks.

5. Document and/or communicate shift issues or events to members of management following established procedures and Escalation Plan

6. Clear communication delivery of assignments and timely follow-up with team members.

7. Report and communicate any machinery problems to maintenance and coordinate required machine repairs. Maintain awareness of repair timing, conduct touch points to ensure repair is on track and communicate per Escalation Plan.

8. Set-up/start-up/In process checks of thermoforming/auxiliary equipment following procedures to always ensure quality product is produced.

9. Monitor line settings and take proactive measures quickly to any process changes to avoid major line disruptions.

10. Responsible for accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of the shift’s safety documents, quality control paperwork, production tracking and computer data entry.

11. Maintain and ensure shift housekeeping of machines, floors, trash cans, waste, scrap, and auxiliary equipment.

12. Perform Gemba walks, shift meetings, shift handover, and general Standard Work activity.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Perform any other assigned duties or tasks requested by management.

PHYSICALS DEMANDS:

· Vision correctable to 20/20.

· Lifting up to 55 lbs. from floor to waist high.

· Frequent bending and stooping.

· Frequent standing the majority of the 12-hour shift.

· Use a utility knife following prescribed safety regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The lighting is good, and temperatures will be hot in summer and cold in the winter. Earplugs, eye protection, steel toed shoes and hair nets are required in the production area. Gloves, face-shield, and other various types of protective equipment must be worn when working around the extruder(s).

Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Thermoforming experience preferred but not required.

· Open to technical and leadership training.

· Read, write and perform simple math and have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.

· Possess strong leadership abilities and communicate effectively with others.

· Must be able to read and use measurement instruments.

· Requires the ability to plan and perform a sequence of operations where standards and recognized operation methods are available and the making of general decisions regarding quality, set up and tolerances.

· Forklift certification is helpful, but not necessary.

· Working knowledge of MS Office, PS and WMS software.

· Must be able to work 12-hour shifts Nights 8pm -8am
