LivaNova Neuromodulation:

As pioneers of the VNS (Vagus Nerve Stimulation) Therapy® system, LivaNova continues to advance medical device solutions for patients affected by Drug-Resistant Epilepsy (DRE) and Difficult-to-Treat Depression (DTD).  There are 3 million people in the U.S. alone and one on three people with epilepsy are drug resistant.  People with severe seizures have, on average, a shorter life expectancy and an increased risk of cognitive impairment particularly if the seizures developed in early childhood.  VNS Therapy for DRE is delivered through a device that sends mild pulses to the vagus nerve at regular intervals throughout the day in an effort to prevent seizures.

Position Summary:

We are looking for top sales professionals interested to build domain expertise in neuromodulation, with skills for enhanced career growth in Difficult to Treat Depression.

The Neuromodulation Consultant position is part of the Difficult to Treat Depression Rotation Program—a development program providing existing sales professionals diverse work experiences to rapidly build knowledge of the VNS Therapy business and customer, then apply their expertise in the future sales and leadership roles in LivaNova’s fast-growing neuromodulation organization. 

The Neuromodulation Consultant, Psychiatry (PNC), is responsible for managing enrollment of the RECOVER trial—representing one of the largest growth opportunities in the medical device industry. As site leader at assigned RECOVER trial sites, PNC’s coordinate with Psychiatrists, trial staff, and internal and external trial enrollment resources in support of trial enrollment for patients suffering from Difficult to Treat Depression (DTD).

Day to day responsibilities include engaging and educating Psychiatrists on VNS Therapy; educating qualified patients (and their family members) on VNS Therapy, neuromodulation technology, and the RECOVER Trial; supporting solutions which accelerate trial site initiation of patient enrollment; coordinate surgical support between the surgeon, patient, and hospital for surgical procedures; and implementing trial awareness programs with area psychiatrists or community organizations withing an assigned distance of the trial site.

Upon successful completion of the Neuromodulation Consultant objectives (approximately 3-5 quarters), follow-on rotations may include Field Sales Rep, Territory Manager, Sales Management, Key Accounts, Marketing, Clinical Education, or Training.

General Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary lead at assigned RECOVER trial sites for Psychiatrist Principal Investigators participating in the RECOVER trial.

  • Conduct education seminars and screening calls with eligible trial patients and their family members, and provide on-going patient enrollment support.

  • Educate physicians, study coordinators, and the referral community on VNS Therapy for Difficult to Treat Depression and the RECOVER trial.

  • Lead weekly trial site alignment meetings to coordinate activities across internal and external enrollment partners to optimize appropriate enrollment and work as a team.

  • Source solutions to trial enrollment problems or obstacles.

  • Present opportunities for referral generation initiatives and/or community outreach programs within targeted area / assigned sites, and coordinate implementation.

  • Identify hospital requirements for new product introduction and coordinate support to get Symmetry VNS Therapy system approved for use.

  • Ensure coordination between the surgeon, patient, and hospital for trial procedures.

  • Coordinate surgical onsite support/case coverage as required.

  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned by management.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ medical sales experience in the neurology or psychiatry space.

  • Hospital and/or medical device industry experience highly preferred.

  • Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills.
