The Dry Lab Supervisor will provide leadership for the Metallurgical Lab. The Dry Lab Supervisor is a critical leader working with a team to ensure the overall success of the shift/operations which includes safety, delivery, quality, throughput, costs, and cycle time. The Dry Lab Supervisor reports directly to the Quality Manager or Director who helps to set priorities in the business and to focus the team on problems to most effectively manage resources. The Dry Lab Supervisor, in conjunction with counterparts on other shifts, orchestrates success overall for the department to positively impact business metrics and sustain profitability. Success in this position depends heavily on leadership, communication, and teamwork.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain constant awareness of machine utilizations and maintenance activities

  • Follow up on all process related deficiencies

  • Analyze daily defects

  • Analyze in-process section coupons

  • Analyze post production sections for IPC, Drawing, Specification compliance

  • Ability to read customer drawings/prints

  • Understanding IPC standards and requirements

  • Work closely with engineers to maintain and enhance process efficiencies

  • Follow and complete necessary revisions of all written procedures

  • Ability to train and understand job rotational structures

  • Ability to implement or manage basic lean manufacturing structures in the lab

  • Train and develop staff to fullest potential, daily coaching and interaction with employees

  • Ensure employees have a safe work environment and are following safe work practices.

  • Assess current business processes and revise as needed.

  • Define and implement new business practices to improve operational effectiveness.

  • Monitor and document individual employee performance.

  • Provide coaching and help mentor shift Leads.

  • Provides leadership to help improve employee morale and acts to help improve employee retention.

  • Create staffing and production plans to meet manufacturing business plans.

  • Work cooperatively with production control to manage manufacturing gates.

  • Act as a role model for staff.

  • Set an example of leadership and professionalism for the entire organization.

  • Works the priorities that are set for shift team, which includes maintenance, quality, manufacturing, and engineering.

  • Serve as an advocate for quality employee issues and represent quality interests in staff level forums.

  • Enforce company policies per the Employee Handbook.

  • Able to work with minimal direct supervision and to independently define tactical plans and set priorities.

  • Ability to make independent decisions.

  • Basic Computer skills including use of spreadsheets, word processing, and e-mail (Microsoft Office suite) is required.

  

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in quality, science or business management field of study is preferred

  • 3 to 5 years prior Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manufacturing experience is a bonus.

  • Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.
