Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a Steamfitter to work at the Menard Correctional Center. This position is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining air handling equipment, condensing units, cleaning and replacing defective pipes and fitting as well as maintaining records of materials used. Essential Functions

• Installs, repairs, and maintains air handling equipment and condensing units.
• Cleans and replaces defective pipes and fittings.
• Maintains records of materials and supplies used.
• Prepares records and report infractions of rules by individuals in custody and employees.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires no formal education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefers experience necessary to qualify as a journeyman steamfitter.
• Prefers at least three (3) years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining air handling equipment, refrigeration equipment and laundry equipment.
• Prefers at least three (3) years of experience cleaning and replacing defective pipes and fittings.
• Prefers at least three (3) years of welding experience necessar
