Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Corrections Supply Supervisor I for Illinois Correctional Industries at Lincoln Warehouse. The ideal candidate will help ensure that the Lincoln Warehouse inventory is accurately recorded and distributed to correctional facilities statewide. The Corrections Supply Supervisor I will assist in the training of workers in custody while making sure they learn the skills necessary to secure employment with a livable wage. Job Responsibilities

1. Receives, checks, stores, prices and distributes merchandise for all stores.
2. Maintains records for the various store purchases for a clear audit trail identifying the flow of equipment and commodities through receiving, distribution, and reassignment.
3. Monitors and coordinates the work assignments of individuals in custody for proper preparation of receiving reports, posting receiving reports and requisitions to perpetual inventory system.
4. Instructs and trains individual in custody workers in the proper packaging or wrapping of products to be shipped.
5. Establishes files and maintains a set of inventory records.
6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school or completion of an approved training course.
2. Requires two (2) years experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Prefers thorough knowledge of institutional rules, regulations, and requirements for the control of individuals in custody.
2. Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience ordering supplies, processing invoices, and distributing materials to work locations.
3. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in a professional setting applying elementary knowledge of professional accounting, auditing, and/or inventory methods and procedures.
4. Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience with the SAP platform.
5. Prefers a forklift certification.
6. Prefers at least (2) years of experience communicating effectively using both verbal and written skills relaying specific job instructions.
7. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in a professional setting performing detailed work involving written or numerical data.

Conditions of Employment

1. This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
2. Requires completion of an approved course in guard training within six (6) months of employment.
