Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a Maintenance Worker Power Plant  to work at the Graham Correctional Center.  This position is responsible for assisting the engineering staff in repairing the HVAC systems at the facility, cleaning, painting and maintaining boilers, inspect exhaust fans, chemical storage  areas and cooling towers as well as performing pump maintenance. Essential Functions

  • Assists the engineering staff in repairing of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems at the facility.
  • Cleans, paints, and maintains boiler and mechanical rooms.
  • Inspects exhaust fans, chemical storage areas, and cooling towers.
  • Performs pump maintenance.
  • Observes resistance or pressure drops over air handling equipment
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school.
  • Requires one (1) year of experience performing a variety of semiskilled manual tasks.
