The hourly range for this role, based in West Virginia is $21.00 to $26.25, range will vary if outside of this location.  Base salaries Hourly Rates are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate’s experience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.

Position Summary:

The overall role of the Distillation Production Employee is to perform the physical duties related to the production of mashes, distillation, and barreling of new make for Smooth Ambler Spirits (SAS). The Distillation Production Employee works with another teammate to produce quality and consistent new make distillate on schedule and safely.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure that all tasks are completed with safety in mind
  • Monitor and operate distillation equipment to produce distillate at preestablished proofs to ensure a quality and consistent finished product
  • Follow established recipes to create mashes consistently and on time
  • Mop, wipe down walls and equipment, sweep, and organize all production areas
  • Use Whiskey Systems and Crafted ERP to track all mashing, distillation, and barrel fills
  • Fill new make barrels in preparation for storage
  • Move grain mashes, new make distillate, empty and filled barrels, and other items as needed
  • Monitor and record parameters during fermentation to ensure a quality and consistent finished product
  • Receive and inspect grain, barrels, and adjuncts for quality and accuracy
  • Light maintenance as required

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience / Background:

  • Prior experience in distillation preferred but not required 
  • Manufacturing, assembly, and/or mechanical experience required

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a general production area and/or office environment with regular demands for moving, lifting/carrying/lowering up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, climbing, and pushing.   Normal visual, hearing and language acuity required for correspondence and computer usage.
