Summary of Duties

This position is part of the Aging and People with Disabilities (APD) Program within Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS). APD’s vision is that Oregon’s older adults, people with disabilities and their families experience person-centered services, supports and early interventions that are innovative and help maintain independence, promote safety and well-being, honor choice, respect cultural preferences and uphold dignity. As a Collaborative Disability Determination Unit Disability Analyst 2, you will:

  • Determine eligibility for the State Family Pre Supplemental Security Income (SSI)/Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), General Assistance (GA),  and  Disability Benefit Liaison (DBL) programs by using criteria developed by the State of Oregon and Social Security Administration (SSA).

  • Determine, using the Presumptive Medicaid Disability Determination Team’s (PMDDT) process, whether applicants meet the SSA’s disability criteria.

  • Research, interpret, and apply complex technical procedures per the SSA Program, SSA laws, rules and regulations.

  • Provide case development advice and direction; direct purchase of consultative medical examinations and advise staff on the preparation of statements and other written assessments to document claims.

  • Prepare, in partnership with the individual customer, an application for Social Security or other benefits as appropriate, including writing and filing appeals and requests for reconsideration on all denied benefits, if appropriate.

  • Order, obtain, analyze and evaluate medical, psychological, social, vocational, and other pertinent data as part of the eligibility determination process. 

  • Consult with mental health specialists, Disability Determination Services specialists, vocational rehabilitation specialists, vocational nurses, and medical professionals to determine disability
