Director, Software Engineering

Job Description

We’re looking for a Director, Software Engineering to join Procore’s Business Technology team. In this role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to drive the architecture, design, and development of systems, platforms, integrations, and automation of Procore’s enterprise applications. In partnership with cross-functional stakeholders, you will plan the product roadmap and drive project execution and delivery. Use your leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills to build highly effective teams, foster collaborative relationships, and motivate engineering teams to deliver on strategic business objectives.

This position reports to the Senior Director Enterprise Applications with the opportunity to be located in our Carpinteria, CA headquarters, the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, Austin, TX, or Toronto, ON. Remote candidates will also be considered based on experience with the expectation of occasional travel to these offices.

What you’ll do:

• Lead a high-performing multi-functional software engineering organization focused on delivering quality software solutions for entitlements automation, system integrations, internal productivity tools, and workflow automation
• Build trusting relationships and promote an atmosphere of cohesiveness and collaboration; partner with key stakeholders across functional teams to deliver agreed-upon priorities with exceptional quality
• Take a hands-on approach to the entire software development lifecycle to plan, manage, and balance multiple parallel deliveries ranging in size and complexity
• Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability. Inspire the team to leverage fresh perspectives, keep up with industry trends and emerging technologies, and adopt best-in-class engineering practices and integration approaches
• Shape Procore’s future technical direction while navigating through transformational change across the organization to drive scale and growth
• Influence decisions on buy vs. build, taking into account immediate needs and strategic enterprise goals
• Build a strong culture focused on positive outcomes, where innovation and teamwork are pillars of success

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related technical field with 12+ years of hands-on experience and strong expertise in architecting, designing, and developing software products and system integrations
• 5+ years of experience leading and managing high-performing software engineering teams focused on enterprise business applications, including growing new engineering leaders
• A passion for technical leadership with a proven track record of motivating and inspiring software teams to deliver scalable solutions on time and within budget
• Solid understanding of modern infrastructure and cloud operations technologies, object-oriented languages and design principles, integration strategies, and techniques, including enterprise integration patterns, middleware frameworks, workflow automation, and business process automation tools
• Domain knowledge of end-to-end enterprise business processes and systems, including CRM, ERP, HRIS, and associated integrations
• Extremely strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience driving results from teams that span organizational and geographic boundaries
• Development or management experience with any of the following is a strong plus: AWS cloud services, microservices, Java, Spring MVC framework, AI, machine learning, Kafka, C++, JavaScript, SQL, Ruby on Rails, React, Heroku, Camunda, Workato, Snowflake, Slack, Jira, CRM (Salesforce), ERP, and HRIS systems  

Additional Information

Base Pay Range $199,600-$274,450. Eligible for Bonus Incentive Compensation. Eligible for Equity Compensation. Procore is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation, and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location.
