The Web Strategy team at Slack is looking for a customer-obsessed and data-driven search engine optimization (SEO) specialist to drive SEO strategy, research, and implementation for our customer-facing website. Reporting directly to the Director of Web Strategy at Slack, you will have ownership of, and lead SEO tactical implementation for the Slack Marketing Team. In this role, you are responsible for delivering on the SEO strategies supporting non-paid traffic acquisition efforts, raising the bar for SEO efforts globally.

In this role, you will be working with strategic partners across both technical and creative disciplines, and the ability to earn trust with key stakeholders is paramount. You will utilize a mix of new content creation as well as content, technical, and off-site optimization tactics to deliver on aggressive organic search traffic goals. As a critical member of the Web Strategy team, you will have the opportunity to enhance both the Self-Serve and Sales-Led experience on the Slack website, impacting millions of visitors monthly. The successful candidate will be seen as a subject matter expert by partner teams, and will actively promote SEO best practices and standards throughout the organization, allowing Slack new user acquisition to scale efficiently globally.

The ideal candidate is a great writer, is passionate about creating compelling digital experiences for websites, and is experienced delivering SEO results for high-traffic, B2B web programs. The SEO Strategist is highly analytical, motivated, and has both the technical and creative expertise to drive SEO decision-making. The candidate is an expert in SEO, content marketing, and web development best practices, and they have a strong grasp on emerging trends in generative AI, content automation, and personalization. This candidate should have experience implementing multi-language, multi-regional SEO strategies, accounting for SEO localization guidelines and differences in local search behavior. The SEO Strategist relentlessly advocates SEO and content marketing best practices and educates internal stakeholders as well as external customers.

Responsibilities

This role is perfect for a strategic and analytical person with a track record for effective customer-centric solutions, and will be responsible for:

  • Implementing and improving upon current SEO strategy.

  • Developing in-depth content strategy based on keyword and market research

  • Understanding how Content, CRO, UX, Performance Marketing, Web Analytics and Marketing Automation work together to create candidate journeys and enhance the candidate experience.

  • Developing best practices for data-driven, candidate-centric web marketing, with a strong consideration for local optimization marketing channels across various languages to drive organic growth.

  • Defining SEO standards and writing white papers for presentation to leadership.

  • Diving into issues and incidents as they occur and performing ad hoc analysis to solve or escalate complex problems.

  • Providing technical SEO requirements for multi-regional, multi-language enterprise web properties and interfacing closely with development and engineering teams.

  • Managing website and CMS migrations.

  • Setting up reporting frameworks to monitor performance and drive digital efficiencies.

  • Managing internal and external stakeholders.

  • Pursuing opportunities with new/untapped non-paid traffic generation tactics and working with the rest of the marketing team to develop innovative and effective marketing campaigns.
